Pre-Write
Science-Fiction DramaDirections: You will brainstorm answers to the following questions as a group, but each member of the group should fill out a pre-write sheet. You do not need to worry about sentences for this part of the assignment.
1. List three to five possible setting for your science fiction drama. At least one of your options should be connected to a “place” that you have learned about in this unit. Remember to look to the “Post It” board.
2. Characters: Make a list of possible character types for your drama. They do not need to have specific names necessarily, but try to be creative with what type of characters or creatures that will bring your story to life.
3. Carefully read the conflict card that your group has drawn. Discuss and write down some problems and solutions that could be connected to this problem. (A series of potential “conflicts” will be written on cards for the groups to draw from. The conflicts will be a starting point for drama plots and will revolve around concepts presented in the unit. It is helpful for the groups to have a starting point for plot development so that time can efficiently be used to get started with the writing process.)
