Spiritual: As students study this time period they will see God’s guidance and care as He provides for His people through creation. Students will learn to rely on God as they learn to serve Him. Academic: By comparing the events of the Gold Rush with life today, students will be better equipped to be servants and witnesses for God. Students will also discover how we can learn from the experiences of others. Emotional: Students will express their own feelings about the struggles that people go through. Each student will evaluate how God’s love should motivate him or her to overcome weaknesses and supplement their gifts. Social: By using discussion and cooperative learning strategies in a positive environment, students will grow together as a class and use each other’s abilities to strengthen one another. Physical: As students study the health of people during the time of the Gold Rush, they will commit themselves to value their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit and to use them to serve Him.
