Spiritual Goal: As they examine architecture through periods of history, students will come to realize that the creation of man reflects the glorious creation of God, God has created man with immense talents and abilities to create, and thereby will be able to appreciate more fully the majestic power of the Creator and stand in awe of His greatness in both environmental creation and the creation that man has made using the talents God provides when they study and observe architecture in natural creation, manmade situations and unconventional architecture in art and throughout the history of Europe.
Academic Goal: By studying the historical background of architecture students will interact and respond to the creativity God has shown through Biblical and modern architecture. Students will understand the many aspects found within the field and come to appreciate God’s hand in creating different structures. The knowledge learned through history of Europe, natural inspiration of architecture, God’s architecture in natural design and the science behind creating and building will lead students to a better understanding of architecture and its role in intellectual design and physical surroundings.
Emotional Goal: Students will contribute their gifts and skills to the whole class as they teach each other about different architects and architectural concepts. Just as each building is dependent on its foundation, students will realize that the Rock upon which they build their lives, will greatly influence, change, and affect them. Furthermore, students will learn that comments and actions have the potential to either build upon a person’s foundation or tear it down.
Physical goal: As students interact physically with each other in their learning environments through both visual and tactile means, they will build their physical skills and improve their physical fitness. Students will learn the nutrition pyramid and realize that how they treat their body, nutritionally and physically, is the building blocks for the rest of their life. To have a strong physical foundation they need to take care of their bodies by eating healthy and staying physically active.
Social Goal: As students work cooperatively and collaboratively, they will grow in their ability to interact positively in a social context. Students will learn to work in harmony as they build social relationships while building and researching. By working and interacting with the class through discussions and by explaining their projects to one another, students will grasp the importance of communicating to one another. |
